Dagmar Flips

This is Dagmar. She is 17 months old and loves to flip. Her daddy Doug is quite possibly the best flipper I've seen. These two had a blast playing on the bridge and I just wanted to share it with you. This is what portrait meets playtime is all about.

A Year of Tutus: A look back at Laney's first year

I met sweet little Laney just over a year ago. She was a teeny tiny little surprise for her parents Mike and Angie --- a precious gift from God. I had the pleasure of watching this little angel grow this past year. When I came to the Allen's house to do Laney's newborn session I noticed that big sister Hallie had a fabulous pink tutu.

I asked Hallie if I could borrow the tutu for little Laney and she graciously allowed me to borrow it. As we sat there taking pictures I remembered seeing photos a mother had taken of her daughter wearing her old swimsuit. This mom started taking these pictures of her daughter when she was a baby and the swimsuit just swallowed her whole. She continued taking her daughters picture in the same swimsuit every year on her birthday. The final picture was the daughter wearing her mom's swimsuit as an adult. Now I think a swimsuit is a little strange to gauge a persons growth, but the idea was cute. I told Angie my idea about the tutu and she was all for it. Each time we had a session the tutu was with her.
     Doing these first year sessions is such an honor for me. It is such a privilege to be able to watch these sweet babies grow. I love that I get to capture these precious moments. Moments that these parents will always treasure. Children grow up so quickly. It is nice to be able to look back and remember that special first year.
