Good Golly Mamarazzi

Good Golly Mamarazzi Assignments
Assignment :19 Life
I fell in love with photography because of its ability to capture Life. It's those real moments that we photograph that are so special. Your challenge today is to capture a moment in your day that is meaningful. Don't worry about doing the dishes or straightening the living room before taking the picture. If the moment you wish to capture is taking place in the midst of chaos, then photograph it.
Happy Shooting!

Assignment :18 Details
It's time to get up close and personal with your subject. I want you to look for those fascinating details that we only see when we get up close.
Happy Zooming!

 Assignment :17 Lens Flare
Okay, so what is lens flare? It is excessive light in a photograph due to internal reflections and scattering of light caused by a camera lens with non-uniform optical characteristics.  Confused yet? Look at the sun in this picture....that is lens flare.

Assignment :16 Self Portrait
No description needed :)
make yours better than mine!

Assignment :15 Silhouette
Your challenge will be to capture a silhouette. That is all I'm going to say.
Good luck!

Assignment :14 Photographers choice
Take a picture of whatever you want.

Assignment :13 Cold
I want you to capture this cold day without going for the obvious (no pictures of ice cubes). The lighting outside naturally gives off a cold feel. If you are feeling adventurous today, try playing with the white balance. Sometimes an "incorrect" white balance setting can make your pictures blue - and as we learned in elementary school, blue is a cool color.
Happy Shooting!

Assignment :12 Free Day
Photograph anything you want.

Assignment :11 Freeze
If you want to freeze a moving subject, you will need a really fast shutter speed. Today's challenge is to   shoot using the shutter priority mode. I want you to use a fast shutter speed so your subject's actions are frozen in your image.
Happy Shooting!

Assignment :10  Red
Today we are keeping it simple. Photograph something red.
Happy Shooting!

Assignment :9 LOVE
I Cor. 13:4-8     "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

Today's theme is love. You choose how to represent it.

Assignment :8 Snow
Let's photograph the snow! This is my own version of a snow dance. If I assign it, it will come. When it snows tomorrow, your assignment will be to photograph it.
(If it doesn't snow, your assignment will be to photograph something white.)

Assignment :7 Scale
Sometimes it's hard to tell just how big (or small) something is in a photograph. A great way to place emphasis on your subject is by adding an object to the composition to draw attention to their size.

Without that sense of scale within the frame, there is no way to judge just how big something is.
Happy Shooting!

Assignment :6 Saturday
Saturdays are for sleeping late, breakfast out, and playtime in our household. Today's challenge is simple--photograph something that represents your Saturday. You may not use the auto setting, but any other setting is allowed today.
Enjoy your Saturday!

Assignment :5 Windows
Natural light is the best kind of light to use in photography. It's softer and and adds more interest to an image. Windows are a great way to use natural light indoors.

Today's challenge is all about windows. You can choose to photograph a window or create a composition where the window's presence is felt. The only thing you may not do is use your flash. Happy shooting!

Assignment :4 Play with light

Photography can be a little frustrating when you are first starting out. There are so many buttons and settings that you have to learn. Well today I want you to relax. I am going to tell you the exact setting to use and then you get to play.

You will need to wait until it is dark unless you have a basement or a closet that is really dark. Your camera will either need to be on a tripod or a flat surface (like a bookcase or table). I want you switch your camera to Manual (M), the ISO to 200, the aperture to f 4, and the shutter speed to 30 seconds. Now, 30 seconds is not 1/30, I'm talking about 30". Place your camera on the flat surface press the shutter release down and then turn on your flash light and begin to draw.
I want you to relax with this assignment and just have fun.
Play with the light and see what you can create and then send me your favorite.

Assignment :3 Show emotion
As a photographer, my goal is to capture real moments in people's lives. Sometimes in those moments, an attitude surfaces. There is nothing better than a true emotion coming through in an image. My challenge to you is to capture a true emotion.
I should be able to tell what the emotion is without reading the title of the image. Good Luck and happy shooting!

Assignment :2 Photograph a shadow.
I know groundhog day isn't here yet, but in honor of Punxsutawney Phil, we are going to go looking for a shadow. Shadows are such a fun way to capture a feeling or a mood. Just a shadow or shadow with object, your choice.
  Happy shooting!

Assignment :1 Capture special moments. The definition
of “special” will vary for each of you. Just start looking.
I have read so many different studies on the best ways to make
something a habit. Some of them said it takes 21 days, some
said 30, and another said 31. I decided to choose 31 as the magic
number just to be on the safe side.

The challenge---Use your camera daily for 31 days and make
photography your habit. Just capture a single image each day. I
will provide the daily challenge. My role in the challenge is to
encourage you to not only see the world around you in a new or
different way but also to stretch you to continue to use
the techniques we covered in the workshop.

As I shared during the first session, my son, Owen, was playing
outside with two young neighborhood girls. Earlier in the day, they
had brought down some of their dolls along with other toys. Later,
Owen came in and told me there was something for me on the side
porch. I thought a package must have been delivered, so I was
quite surprised to see this when I opened the door.

I was being mooned by a baby doll! My 4 year-old thought this
was the funniest thing ever. He was so-o-o very proud of himself
for coming up with this little scheme. For me, this was a moment
I wanted to capture. What are some moments you wished that you
had photographed? For me, this photograph was worth having,
not because it is a funny image, (even though it is) but because of
its value to me --- it's a reminder of how funny Owen is at age 4. This
picture represents his silly (sometimes potty) sense of humor. It
will continue to remind me of a story, a story that just might be
used against him one day at his rehearsal dinner :)

Now it’s your turn. Capture your special moments. You might have
several. Send me your favorite.
